Nine Ways to Use Less Oil

Everybody's looking for ways to conserve energy costs. Here are some ideas that are sure to help.
1. If your heating system is more than 20 years old, it's time to think about replacing it. Potential energy savings: up to 30% 5. Insulate pipes in unheated areas of your home, such as attics, basements or crawl spaces.

4.If you have a warm air system keep your furnace filter clean. Replace disposable filters about once a month during the heating season. 8. Install storm windows over older single-pane windows. If your're renovating replace old windows with energy-efficient double-paned windows.

9. When you're not using your fireplace, close the damper.
