Q: What are some of the mistakes people make when buying a new heating system? A: In my experience, here are the big ones:
Installing an oversized system. The right size system (measured by Btu output) will deliver the perfect amount of warm air to your home with the greatest efficiency. You’ll feel comfortable without paying a fortune.
Choosing the wrong contractor. You can invest in the best system in the world, but if your contractor installs it improperly, you will not get the comfort and savings you paid for.
Waiting too long. By delaying the inevitable, you risk reducing your options and compromising your comfort.
Q: Why is heating oil safer than natural gas? A: For starters, heating oil cannot explode. The fuel that is stored in your tank is very safe. If you dropped a lit match into a bucket of heating oil, the flame would go out just as if you dropped it into water. Oil heat also poses a very low risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
