Shocking spike in fuel prices is hurting all of us. Click here.

Michael, Kent, Gary and Bruce
Dear Friends,
With oil prices running so low for the second winter in a row, most people have been saving a lot of money on heating costs. (A much warmer winter on Long Island this year also helped!)
The price drop has been so significant that heating oil is once again less expensive than natural gas when you apply an apples-to-apples comparison.
We encourage you to invest your fuel savings back into your home so you can save even more with high-efficiency equipment. This will keep your heating costs as low as possible for years to come — even if prices start to creep up again.
Your friends at Swezey can help you. Whether it’s a new furnace, a boiler or a water heater, or even a ductless cooling system, our trained technicians can take care of virtually any issue that affects your home comfort.
If your heating system doesn’t need to be replaced, we can keep your equipment running at top efficiency with our tune-up service. We can also help you save money and prevent problems with our plumbing services.
Please contact us soon about some of the ways we can keep you more comfortable and save you money in 2016.
Warmly,
Bruce, Gary, Kent and Michael

“To me, it’s similar to a carpenter standing back and admiring a house that he has just built.”

Spring flowers
Why wait for fall to prepare for the next heating season? Here are three wise moves to make now that can really pay off later.

  1. Enroll in our EasyPay plan so you can spread your fuel costs over 11 months, instead of paying us in full every time you get a delivery.
  2. Upgrade to a high-efficiency oil boiler and eliminate big heating bills forever.
  3. Beat the fall rush and get your boiler or furnace in top shape by scheduling your heating system tune-up this spring. We can take care of your air conditioning tune-up on the same day!

Oil heat emission chart
Heating oil remains one of the cleanest, safest and most reliable fuels your money can buy. The plunge in prices over the last two years means it’s an even better value, proving once again that heating your home with oil remains one of the wisest things you can do.
1. Greener fuel.
There is continued movement toward using ultra-low-sulfur heating oil with Bioheat® fuel. This is a clean-burning fuel that produces fewer carbon emissions than natural gas, which has become more of a carbon producer due to the growing use of liquefied natural gas. Meanwhile, methane leaks from natural gas have become a big environmental concern.
2. Clean-burning technologies.
Modern oil burners emit near-zero levels of pollution; heating with oil today means no odors, soot or other residue in your home. (See the chart at right.) Widespread use of ultra-low-sulfur fuel oil, combined with cuttingedge emissions-control technologies, can reduce already low emissions even further.
3. Fuel conservation advances.
Oil heat systems are cleaner, greener and more economical than ever. The latest heating systems are small, smart and super-efficient and can save you as much as 30% on your annual heating costs.
4. High-tech hybrids.
Solar and geothermal energies are being integrated with oil heat in hybrid systems for water heating. That means a household’s water can be heated with little or no fuel required. A solar water heater can reduce water heating bills by as much as 80% and reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by 6,000 pounds.*

5. Abundant supply.
The new American oil revolution is now a reality. Domestic oil production has reached its highest point since the 1970s. As a result, most experts expect oil prices to stay lower for the foreseeable future.
6. Great value.
Crude oil prices recently plunged to their lowest level since December 2003! The price drop has been so significant that heating oil is once again less expensive than natural gas when you apply an apples-to-apples comparison — a gallon of heating oil generates 40% more Btu’s of heat than an equivalent amount of natural gas. What’s more, gas utilities impose a surcharge on their customers that adds to the cost of heating a home with gas. They also charge customers for lost gas!
7. Guaranteed service response.
You can always expect a fast and courteous response from us whenever you need our help — a guarantee that you simply cannot put a price on.

Methane emissions graph
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new regulations to cut carbon dioxide emissions from existing coal plants by up to 30% by 2030. In addition, there is a plan that outlines both regulatory and voluntary actions that federal agencies would undertake to reduce methane emissions, which are more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide emissions. (Methane is the main component of natural gas.)
The strategy targets industries creating the largest percentage of domestic methane emissions, with the top three polluters being agriculture (farm animals), natural gas systems and landfills.
While there is no practical way to control emissions from farm animals, some landfills have been installing wells and vents to capture methane.
We can only hope that the natural gas industry makes similar progress in addressing an environmental problem that affects us all.

As more power plants convert from coal to natural gas and older gas pipelines continue to deteriorate, an adequate supply of natural gas is becoming a major concern.
Leaky gas pipelines are also costing people money! Gas that doesn’t reach the customer is considered lost or unaccounted for, although it is still paid for by the gas customer. Imagine if we charged you for oil that was “lost”!
By sticking with oil heat, and upgrading to high-efficiency, clean-burning oil heating equipment you can reduce emissions, save energy and keep your heating bills reasonable. And by doing this, you’ll still have us on your side, always willing to go out of our way to keep you warm and safe.

System 2000 Premier Dealer
Don’t go through another winter worrying about staying warm in your home. Now is the time to consider replacing an older boiler, which runs the risk of breaking down or not being able to keep up with the heating demands of a Long Island winter.
A new high-efficiency heating system like the System 2000 will keep you toasty warm — even when temperatures drop below zero! And because a new boiler uses a lot less fuel than older models, you can reduce your annual heating costs by 30% or more.
Bonus savings: Take advantage of our spring special! Make a down payment of 33% toward the cost of your boiler and we’ll give you 18 months of 0% financing on your balance. Don’t wait. Ductless heat-pump system
Customers who have asked us to install a Fujitsu ductless mini-split heat-pump system are feeling a lot more comfortable, as this letter from a happy customer attests.
Because they require no ductwork, compact mini-split units are ideal for any space that isn’t connected to your central heating or cooling system, such as an addition or a converted space. They are also a perfect, affordable solution for rooms that are hard to heat or cool.
Super-efficient at both heating and cooling, ductless heat pumps eliminate the need for dangerous space heaters and ugly window units. They can help lower energy costs between 25% and 50%!
We can evaluate your home and determine the best type of unit for your needs, then install your system in just a day or two. Contact us to set up a no-obligation appointment and consultation.
