When to Call in a Home Heating Pro

Sometimes, it pays to bring in a licensed HVAC technician.

Reliable home heating is essential, especially during Suffolk County’s cold winters. When your heating system isn’t performing as it should, it’s important to know when to try some quick troubleshooting and when it’s time to call in the experts.

At Swezey Fuel, we’re here to help you stay warm and comfortable all season long. Here’s a helpful guide to common issues and when to bring in a professional.

Your Heating Equipment Won’t Turn On

Few things are as frustrating as a heating system that simply won’t start when you need it to. Before you panic, make sure to check a few basics:

• Is your thermostat set to “heat” and adjusted to a temperature higher than the current room temperature?
• Is the system’s power switch turned on?
• Check your circuit breaker or fuse box to ensure that a breaker hasn’t tripped or a fuse hasn’t blown.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s time to call in a heating pro. Our experienced technicians at Swezey Fuel can quickly diagnose and address the problem.

Your Rooms Won’t Warm Up

If your heating system is running but your home still feels chilly, there could be a few culprits. Start by checking these:

• Ensure that your vents aren’t blocked by furniture or other items.
• Replace dirty or clogged air filters to improve airflow.
• Check that your radiators or baseboard heaters are fully open.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it’s likely a problem with your boiler or furnace. At this point, it’s best to contact a professional to get your system back in top shape.

You Need an Annual Heating Tune-Up

Professional HVAC maintenance keeps your home heating system running smoothly and efficiently. An annual heating tune-up offers a variety of benefits:

• Improved energy efficiency, which helps lower your heating costs.
• Reduced risk of breakdowns and emergency repairs.
• An increased service life for your equipment.
• Safer operation of your oil furnace or boiler.

At Swezey Fuel, our certified technicians provide comprehensive tune-ups that bring these advantages and keep you warm all winter.
